Welcome to Democratic Economy for the 21st Century
In Hounour of Cec Muldrew(1923-2004 )
Democratic Economy for the 21st Century would like to pay respect to long time peace activist and passionate environmentalist, Cec Muldrew, who passed away on September 6, 2004 at the age of 81. Cec's exemplimentary example of peace, simplicity and compassion for the environment will be sorely missed in today's world. His work and dedication for sustainability and social justice will hopefully set an example for young people in our generation to follow.

I hope you enjoy this website. This website will be devoted to the ideas of how a economic democracy should look like for the 21st century. Issues that will be of main focus are:
- What a taxation policy for a democratic economy should look like
- How PR(proportional representation) in the House of Commons would help lay the foundations for economic democracy
- Is it good enough just to tax corporations, or should they be broken up into smaller companies
- ESOP's, co-operatives, credit unions and other forms of alternative business structures
- Green commerce
- Populist Economics
The aim of this website is to appeal to all sides of the political spectrum who have a concern with where the economy is headed. This includes populists, democratic socialists, liberals, compassionate conservatives, greens, socialists, anarchists and communists. The idea of this website is to bring fresh new ideas to the table to the Canadian economy, that will bring new wealth, prosperity, justice for all Canadians, not just a selected few.
The vision for Democratic Economy for the 21stCentury: The Goals for the next twelve months
By Adam Johnston
Ever since the website debuted early this spring, I have had some good response to people who have visited it. Everyone from New Democrats to a former red Tory and a moderate Conservative Party member have taken a liken to some of the ideas that have been flown on the website. The goal of this website is not to condemn peoples ideas, if they are socialist, former progressive conservative, liberal, green, populist so on and so forth, but to put forward ideas, that will benefit for a more humane democratic economy for all. Isn’t that what democracy is all about?
While in the early stages of this website and not getting more attention I wish it could get early on, the fact is that business will be picking up real soon. What you the audience and active participants will see soon is some really exciting stuff. This will include:
Ø Completion of The New Deal for Canada report that was flown around during election time in a discussion paper format on what a modern day democratic economy would look like
Ø Movie and Discussion nights on such films as The Corporation, Supersize Me
Ø Opinion pieces on the latest business issues and how the relate to a modern democratic economy
Ø Campaigns for tax reform to benefit small businesses, the environment and labour
Ø Reviews on books, movies on economic democracy issues
Ø Special Chat room disscussions pertaining to business and economic issues
Ø Interviews with some of the key players on business, political and economic issues
And much more.
Yes while it might be an ambitious agenda the fact of the matter is that we as a Canadian society have to have a debate about our economy. A debate on how to make an economy benefit for everyone and truly make it democratic.
As Former United States President Franklin Deleno Roosevelt Said, “We Can….. We Will….. And we must”.
Now lets all get down to work.
Yours truly
